PlayStar is a promising game developer with a selection of slots and table games in their portfolio. While the majority of their products shows off the developer’s keen interest in the Asian culture and tradition, there are a few offerings for the international fan base.

PlayStar Casino has entered into a multi-year agreement with Ocean Casino Resort, which will allow the newly established online casino brand to operate in New Jersey.

The target launch for PlayStar Casino is the second half of 2021. The deal is subject to approval from the state Division of Gaming Enforcement.

According to a company press release, the offering is an “immersive experience that visitors receive every time they walk through the casino’s digital doors,” is at the heart of PlayStar’s online offering.

This will be achieved, the Stockholm-based company said, through personalization, engagement, and exemplary customer service that “makes players feel like the star of the show.”

Joel Wikell, group founder and chairman of PlayStar Casino, said “it is great to be back in the game.”

He founded Boss Media in the mid-nineties and brought many of the earliest online casinos to life.

“To get back in at this time when the technology and possibilities have advanced so much is genuinely exciting. And we’re looking forward to doing it all over again,” Wilkell said.

PlayStar Casino could benefit Ocean Casino Resort

PlayStar would be just the thirdNJ casino app under Ocean’s casino license (pending approval). Ocean Casino online and Parx Casino are the others.

And Tipico, one of Ocean’s NJ sports betting partners, currently does not offer online casino.

However, this partnership is still in its early stages. Ocean did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

So Ocean could benefit from a shot in the arm by supporting another online casino skin. Ocean ranks dead last in NJ online gaming revenue among Atlantic City’s seven license holders.

In 2020, Ocean reported $10.3 million in online gaming revenue. By comparison, the next lowest online gaming revenue amount reported was Hard Rock’s $59.6 million. NJ’s online market leader Golden Nugget posted nearly $319 million last year.

All of New Jersey’s online gaming operators collectively reported $970.34 million in revenue last year.

Now that 2021 is here, Ocean Casino Resort seems ready to claim a bigger piece of the pie.
